Turkish Order With Vegetables

Also known as “Turkish pizza”  , the request is a typical dish of Turkey and is usually eaten in street stalls. If you do not have the opportunity to travel there (for the moment) you can prepare one of its most representative meals. Learn how to prepare it with the recipes in this article.

Turkish order with meat

It is arguably like an Italian pizza with a different shape that is filled with many ingredients. The most common are lamb or beef, vegetables and cheese.

Ingredients:

For the mass:

  • 250 grams of flour
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 9 grams of fresh yeast
  • 100 ml of warm water
  • 40 ml olive oil

For the filling:

  • 200 grams of minced meat
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce or tomato sauce
  • Salt, ground black pepper, oregano, cumin, sweet paprika
  • Chopped parsley
  • Olive oil

To spread the dough:

  • 1 egg

Utensils:

  • Frying pan
  • Knife
  • Strainer for sifting flour
  • Container to make the dough
  • Baking plate

Turkish order with vegetables and meat

  • Heat a few tablespoons of olive oil in a pan and add the finely chopped onion.
  • Add the garlic, the pepper and the peeled tomato, all finely chopped, and sauté a little.
  • Add the minced meat and cook it until it loses its pink color (it will finish cooking in the oven).
  • Add the tomato paste and the chosen spices, remove from the heat and let it cool completely.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the dough: in a bowl sift the flour, place the yeast, salt and sugar.
  • Make a hole in the center and add the oil.
  • Pour in the water little by little and mix to obtain a homogeneous mass.
  • Grease a container and put the dough, cover and let it rest for 1 hour to double its volume.
  • Divide the dough into three equal parts and shape them into a ball.
  • Roll them out one by one on a floured surface and shape them into an oval shape.
  • Fill with about 3 tablespoons of meat and close the edges (leave the center uncovered like the typical Arabic empanadas or fatay).
  • Turn on the oven while you finish with the other two batters.
  • Beat the egg and brush the dough and the center of the Turkish order.
  • Put on a greased plate and bake about 15 minutes (until the dough is golden).
  • Remove, let cool a little and eat!
  • You can cut it into squares to make it easier

Turkish order with vegetables

The previous recipe is the traditional one with meat, but we can also enjoy it with vegetables. In this first alternative we suggest you use spinach.

Ingredients:

For the mass:

  • 480 grams of flour
  • 60 ml olive oil
  • 370 grams of water
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of sugar
  • 12 grams of yeast

For the filling:

  • ½ cup spinach
  • ½ cup cream cheese
  • ½ cup feta cheese
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 egg

To brush:

  • 1 egg

preparation:

  • Prepare the Turkish request dough according to the previous recipe, but with the amounts of ingredients in this version.
  • To prepare the filling, beat the egg, chop the spinach well and pour it all into a bowl.
  • Add the cheeses and diced tomatoes, mix well and season.
  • Place the filling in the dough, brush with beaten egg and cook for 20 minutes.

Turkish order with zucchini and onion

In this case, the filling is based on zucchini and onion; perfect for vegetarians.

Ingredients:

For the mass:

  • 200 grams of flour
  • 50 ml olive oil
  • 10 grams of yeast
  • 70 grams of water
  • 1 pinch of salt

For the filling:

  • 1 zucchini
  • 1 onion
  • Olive oil
  • Salt, pepper, nutmeg, oregano
  • Blue cheese
  • 1 egg

Turkish vegetable order with spinach

preparation:

  • To make the dough, put the flour in a bowl and make a hole in the middle.
  • Dissolve the yeast in water and pour it into the flour hole, along with the other ingredients.
  • Work the dough well so that it is homogeneous, place it in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let it rest.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the filling:  cut the onion into julienne strips and slice the zucchini. Sauté in a frying pan with a little olive oil.
  • Season and season.
  • Prepare the dough balls according to the first recipe, and add the filling.
  • Top with a few pieces of blue cheese and paint the dough with beaten egg
  • Bake 20 minutes and you’re done.
