Quit Smoking: 3 Simple Remedies To Start The Day And Combat Withdrawal Symptoms

One of the biggest problems for those who want to quit smoking is starting the day without resorting to tobacco. Our body, especially the brain, is so used to nicotine that when it perceives a deficit of that substance it reacts with a series of symptoms that define the withdrawal syndrome.

We must be clear that, when it comes to quitting smoking, not everyone will use the same strategies. It is, therefore, necessary that you find those techniques that best suit your characteristics.

However, it is worth knowing some simple tips with which to face one of the worst moments in everyday life when you want to quit smoking: the morning.

Morning withdrawal syndrome

It is a well-known fact that the regular smoker has their own key moments  when they feel like (or need) to light a cigarette:

  • Nothing else to get up.
  • In social gatherings.
  • After meals.
  • While having a coffee.
  • On breaks from work.

Among all of them, the one that usually costs the most when you want to quit smoking is the first, and the reason for this is due to the following:

  • After a night’s sleep, the nicotine level in the blood has dropped. When we wake up, the brain feels this deficit and reacts by “encouraging” us to give it that drug to which it has become accustomed.
  • Neurons need this element that, although harmful, is still a stimulant that they had integrated into their daily work routine.
  • By not having nicotine, a series of metabolic and physical changes begins with which to compensate for this deficiency and, in addition, encourage us to light a cigarette again.

The most common thing when you are a smoker is to light a cigarette as soon as you open your eyes, and even before having breakfast. Something that, without a doubt, is very negative for our health.

Once we set the purpose of quitting the habit, we must be aware that the worst moments are going to be the first 3 days. Moments in which our brain is going to demand that morning dose of nicotine from us.
