Natural expectorant syrups
Flaxseed syrup
The gel that flax seeds release would be good for soothing throat irritation from respiratory problems. As with natural syrups, we combine it with the qualities of lemon and honey. Its properties are said to enhance the immune response to reduce the presence of viruses.
Ingredients
- ½ glass of water (125 ml).
- 2 tablespoons of honey (50 g).
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice (20 ml).
- 3 tablespoons of flaxseeds (30 g).
Process
- Soak three tablespoons of flax seeds in half a glass of water and let them rest until they get their gel.
- When ready, add the tablespoons of lemon juice and honey.
- Pour the product into a jar.
- Consume in moderation, a maximum of 3 or 4 tablespoons a day.
Cress syrup
It is often said that the mixture of honey and watercress is an expectorant remedy that helps speed up recovery, in case of flu or colds. To prepare it, it is advisable to have fresh watercress on hand.
Ingredients
- 6 watercress leaves.
- 3 tablespoons of water (30 ml).
- 3 tablespoons of honey (75 g).
Process
- Add the watercress leaves to the blender and add three tablespoons of water to facilitate blending.
- Pass the product through a strainer and mix it with the three tablespoons of honey.
- Store it in a dark jar and let it sit overnight.
- Consume in moderation.
Strawberry syrup
Because of its delicious flavor, natural strawberry syrups are said to be perfect for fighting coughs and colds in the little ones in the house. Its significant contribution of vitamin C and antiseptic qualities would strengthen the defenses to accelerate recovery.
Ingredients
- 5 strawberries (or raspberries).
- 3 tablespoons of brown honey (75 g).
Process
- Wash the strawberries well and blend them in the blender with the brown honey.
- Next, pour the product into a saucepan and put it over low heat until it acquires a thick texture.
- Do not take more than 3 tablespoons a day.
Lemon garlic syrup
Both lemon and garlic are said to have antibacterial properties that, supposedly, would contribute to the improvement in case of flu or cold.
Ingredients
- 1 lemon
- 1 onion.
- 6 cloves of garlic
- 1 glass of water (250 ml).
- 4 tablespoons of honey (100 g).
Process
- Wash the garlic cloves and put them in the blender with the juice of a lemon, the onion and the honey.
- Add the glass of water and process everything until you get a homogeneous mixture.
- Pour the product into a glass container and consume it three times a day.
